OOTD - The Spring Outfit Formula

The Spring Outfit Formula:
Jean Jackets are a must. Light wash preferably. This one is from Target. It has a small amount of spandex in the fabric so it's super comfy.
I love pairing denim with white or a light top. Layers for Spring is perfect!
Now bottoms are tricky.
Me in the morning - "I wonder if it's cold out, lets just check the app, okay, it says its cold now but I'll be sweating by 11am."
Spring really is a struggle weather wise but I'll take anything after that Winter!
Today I added some plain black leggings and some comfy moccasins. I could also add high wasted shorts, pants or a skirt!

Happy spring! x

Reading Week

This semester has been going by so quickly. We finally had a second to breathe over reading week. Although I was running around from meetings, shoots, and work I found some time for myself. On the very last day Maria and I made a spontaneous trip to Toronto. We took the train down in the morning. We spent the day peaking into vintage shops and the black market. I have a special place in my heart for spending hours digging through piles of clothing and flipping through racks. We relaxed in cute coffee shops. And some how managed to survive the busy city!

Review : The Early Bird

My friend Maria from Fresh Collidings and I are always up to try new places. We were down town a few days ago doing a shoot and spotted this place, The Early Bird. We were both starving so we grabbed a table. I got a duck sandwich and she got the perogies. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so neat! Every inch of the walls were covered with posters and art, there was no shortage of things to look at!
Definitely recommend this one!

Hemp Hand Protector

As we all know Canadian winters can get wild. I use this Hemp Hand Protector by The Body Shop to keep my hands healthy and moisturized. Being outside and walking to school can really take a toll on your skin, but this moisturizer helps loads!
This moisturizer is really thick and I find that most moisturizers in the same consistency are some that I dislike the most. When you cannot touch anything or get dressed for 20 minutes then it becomes a burden. Although this one is a different story, the consistency is what I love so much about this moisturizer. I've gotten into a routine in which i put this on right before I close my eyes and when I wake up my hands are perfect again!

Blackbird Lingerie Kit

I was browsing Instagram a few weeks back, I follow tons of sewers and homemade fashion bloggers. I saw someone post about the Blackbird Lingerie Kit. I immediately fell in love.
Some of you may know it's extremely hard to find the findings like metal sliders and loops that match your fabric. This kit comes with the fabric, interfacing, lining and matching findings.
I hopped on over to their site and ordered the lilac and nude kit.
I'm very excited to start working with this project!

Frosted Cranberry

The only reason I'm sad that winter is gone is because of the Bath and Body works seasonal scents. Frosted Crandberry is one of my all time favs. This year I purchased it in the room spray which I absolutely adore and still spray even though the sun is shining!

Live Clean Shampoo

people have been asking about my care routine for my dreads so here you people are.
I wash my hair every week-2 weeks with love clean shampoo.
this shampoo is sulfate and parabin free, it is a no residue shampoo and also smells sooooo good! ( I love that the smell lingers with me for a few days)

Dreadlocks!

Guess what?! I've finally finished my dreadlocking process. It began on Februrary 4th by spending 9 hours in a salon chair. 54 dreads were created that day. I then bought 2 packs of synthetic hair and started to dread those, 30 were created from those. My friend then installed them for a about 7 hours.
Now we're finally here! and I couldn't be happier!

Paddle your own canoe

I've been thinking loads lately about doing my own thing. Doing what I want. And standing for what I believe in. I think in the past I have done a lot of things that I haven't wanted to do, or haven't done something I wanted to do because of someone else's opinion. I'm finding my freedom and myself again. - Ultimately you are the only person you can rely on. At the end of the day YOU have to be happy. We all have to focus on ourselves and our individual happiness.

Cheers to a fresh start.

MIA

I'm back. These past two weeks have been unbelievably busy and I've hardly had time to sleep! I'm back and got some awesome posts coming your way. Thanks for being patient.

As pay back have a fetus photo of me

California

Hey guys!
I wanted to make a post about this book I'm reading right now! It's called California by Edan Lepucki. The book is about what would happen if the world continue to use up our natural resources. Eventually electricity, water, and gas becomes so expensive that only the wealthy can afford basic necessities. Global warming gets intense and created horrible storms that killed off most of the human race. The story follows two people named Frida and Cal. They're young and trying to figure out how to provide for themselves.
I definitely recommend!

Smart Set

Hey guys!
I went into Smart Set this morning and saw this coordinated separate. I'm not sure what you think but I always thought of Smart Set as a place you would go buy a blouse. Places like smart set are predictable, you know what you're going to see when you go in there because you've seen it at the last 5 stores you stopped in. This separate has so much going for it, it's floral, pastel, cropped, body con, and midi in length. When I saw this separate I was so surprised, Smart Set it definitely stepping their game up.

Dresses!

Hey guys!
I just wanted to make a quick post letting you see what I was up to last week!
I designed and made this dress for my good friend Leah!

Sunglasses

I'm questioning myself if I should actually do a post about sunglasses. But look how rad these are. I picked them up at Hakim Optical for $60 while waiting for my glasses to be fixed. I can honestly say between the gold rim with hieroglyphics and the light purple frame and lenses they're the sweetest pair of sunglasses I've ever owned.

Alexa Chung IT

Hey guys!
Not sure if you've heard of the book called IT by Alexa Chung? Well we all know that Alexa is a style icon. Sometimes I find myself wondering where these icons get their inspiration.. and Alexa fulfilled my dreams. IT is in-between a story and an autobiography. She highlights singers, writers, actors, and objects that inspire her clothing choices on a day to day basis.
The book is full of amazing shots, and graphics. It's safe to say that I'm in love with this book. I sat down and read front to back in just a few hours. It's impossible to put this one down.
